What we do

We’re making the property and construction industry inclusive for LGBTQ+ people

Our goal is to promote positive change for LGBTQ+ people working in and creating the built environment.

We do this by creating research-backed guidance, engaging with our community and allies, and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Our working groups

As a volunteer organisation, our working groups are how we get things done. We have four distinct groups working on projects that support our vision of a more inclusive property and construction industry.

People engagement

The people engagement group is focused on removing barriers to LGBTQ+ inclusion across our work sites and offices and growing InterBuild's reach across Australia.
Governance and memberships

The governance and memberships group is working hard to ensure InterBuild is set up for success by creating the structures and processes that support our members.
Industry impact

The industry impact group is creating positive impact through policy and guidelines - they are the driving force behind our Inc-loo-sion project.
Events and communications

The events and communications group is giving InterBuild a voice while creating networking and informational events.

Inc-loo-sion: New Guidelines for Inclusive Bathrooms

Through our Inc-loo-sion Project we're creating guidelines to promote greater choice and design of bathrooms that are inclusive of all. We surveyed people from the LGBTQ+ community and InterBuild’s networks to better understand the needs of the community, their experiences within the built environment, and the barriers to greater inclusion.
